Miripolsky’s Corona Series March - April 2020
Utilizing only the available materials on hand, Andre Miripolsky created his Corona Series 2020 while in isolation at his Los Angeles studio during the government mandated Stay At Home orders implemented to flatten the curve of the global Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.
Miripolsky evokes the tension created by this invisible foe while holding fast to his relentless optimism and positive outlook through his rich and bold use of color, texture form and line. Produced from a single initial stencil, each sub-series replicates itself onto another blank paper host – and takes over.
Even the images of each piece printed in this catalogue - perfect in their imperfections - were taken by Miripolsky himself and tell the story of this unprecedented time in history when we are called to be productive alone while in it together.
This optimistic body of work is dedicated to those around the world who continue to risk their lives in order to fight, contain, treat and ultimately triumph over the Corona.
